| Gazeau Tower |
| Pouligny Saint Martin |
The ‘Patience’ from the novel Mauprat lived here.
“In the middle of the woods stood a lonely old tower, famous for the tragic death of one of its prisoners. The executioner who was out on his rounds thought it would be a good idea to hang him, without a trial of any sort, to please his lord and master, one of the old Mauprats.”
An ancient round keep dating from the thirteenth century, which is now private property. A good view of the building may be had from the ‘Path of the Master Pipers’ (‘Sentier des Maitres Sonneurs’) mid-way between Pouligny Saint Martin and Pouligny Notre Dame.
