George Sand wrote of this tiny picturesque village : “a poetic parish in sublime surroundings”.
Walking through the village, you will see the fifteenth and sixteenth century castle, “where Ludovic Sforza languished eighteen months” La Vallée Noire (The Black Valley) by George Sand, the church of Saint Léger (thirteenth and fifteenth centuries), the Parliament House, and a stall for shoeing oxen. The gardener’s cottage houses a recreated typical local interior from the late nineteenth century. On the road to Neuvy, you will see a charming tiny leper chapel dating from the thirteenth century.
