Thevet Saint Julien

(JPG) Surprising wooden sculptures ! Horse or seahorse ? Giraffe or dinosaur ?
Roots, branches, stumps - sculptures made by Mother Nature to which Abbé Aymon, priest at Thevet Saint Julien from 1941 to 1987, gave life. With beads for eyes, and wire for tongues. Just one flick of the knife, and here is a beak or a muzzle !
And what are they called ? It’s up to the visitor to decide. Young and old alike, come and discover this strange and original collection of more than 300 sculptures, it’s unforgettable !
The parish priest, Abbé Aymon, used branches and roots to bring into being a group of strange animals.
